Congrats to the Weblog Awards winners
The Weblog Awards are the buzz today.
Cheers to Pam's House Blend and hoorahs to Crooks & Liars. I'd also say kudos to Dooce, but she's almost an expected winner these days. And props to Firedoglake and giggles to Sadly No.
DBK points to a couple of non-winners:
The editorial board of Blanton's and Ashton's also decries the fact that The Liberal Avenger generated as much interest as Canadian Football in its bid for top honors as the Best Liberal Blog.
In addition, both Pandagon and MyDD failed to win in the Best Group Blog category, which stinks on ice because either of them is worthier of recognition than the winner.
I've said it before. All this awards stuff is nice, but the groveling for votes can be pretty unseemly. I've managed to avoid most of that this year.
What's very interesting about these results -- at least to me -- is that the vast majority of award finalists, and many of a the winners, I've never even heard of. It's a big blogiverse out there, people. How much of it are you seeing?

I hadn't a clue about these until I read your post...!
"the vast majority of award finalists, and many of a the winners, I've never even heard of."
I had the same "blog shock" as well, looking over the names of the winners in several categories.
The good news is these results now provide a portal into some (well, quite a few, actually) new blogs. Hooray. Get rid of those four walls.
