What kind of post-modernist are you (even though you're not)?
I thought I'd take this test since I'm not a post-modernist.
You are a Revisionist Historian. You are the Clark Kent of postmodernists. You probably want to work in a library or in social services. No one suspects you of being a postmodernist...until they read your publications!
What kind of postmodernist are you!?
brought to you by Quizilla
My own snarky take is that post-modernism tends to come across as institutionalized reactionary ism-ism against Western colonial orthodoxy, offered as a new orthodoxy to substitute for critical thinking. (No wonder the progressive intelligentsia have virtually disappeared.)

i think it is a subsitute for critical thinking. yuck. and can i ask whats up with all these old neo marxist professors running our campuses? essay after essay after essay?!!?! walter benjamin said this, adorno said that blah blah chomsky and america is fascist yada yada yada. it funny i went to like, the most liberal school on earth and what im seeing is this radical secularism/multiculturalismist stuff gaining ground. they get a little too bent out of shape if you say merry christmas or something like that by accident, or eat lunch with like, too many indian people or something. i dunno its just too much sometimes. and people are always racist no matter if you know them or not. anyway, i never read derrida, and i only know one person that really knows it well, and i can tell you its not easily digestible. deconstruction though gets on my nerves and post-modern architecture is hideous. i think philosophy is getting swallowed up by the cultural studies and annthropology departments anyhow. you can imagine what they are saying about plato. everything has to be about identity politics. its more important than plato. anyway, that lady doesnt look like she about to hang out in any bathhouse in the castro with foucault anytime soon. i thought the post moderns have to like, dress in sexy turtlenecks and black sweaters. but anyway i have her pegged as more like the smithsonian folky classics reading type, not really bohemian intellectual. but we havent seen her dress or pants, they could be very postmodern and we'd never know..
...that you are confusing post-modernism with Marxism etc. when they are not at all the same thing.
And if you're offended by the views of professors, then maybe you missed the point of college.
Also (I'll just say this publicly) stan you are flirting with banning. Why? Because you're rambling with ad hominem attacks and unsubstantiated and tired old right-wing talking points. If you have nothing constructive or rational to contribute to the discussion, perhaps you should consider refraining. Blogs are free. You can always start your own and post your diatribes there.
hoooooooold up! im just not really an "across the board type person." it didnt sound like, from the less than serious opening comments you made on the subject, that you were trying to be serious.
I'm puzzled too, Stan. I'm can't see this:
"i thought the post moderns have to like, dress in sexy turtlenecks and black sweaters. but anyway i have her pegged as more like the smithsonian folky classics reading type, not really bohemian intellectual. but we havent seen her dress or pants, they could be very postmodern and we'd never know.."
...as anything but parody, myself. But maybe I missed something.
And hey, mediagirl--how about a link to the quiz? I'd love to find out what kind of post-modernist I am. :-)
