New community for progressive political thought
I've been quiet here the past couple of days because I've been involved in getting RealityBuzz.org off the ground. It's an online community that grew out of the Stop Gonzalez campaign that swept across the blogosphere; there was too much momentum within this so-called "indie 500" for his inevitable confirmation to derail the focus and enthusiasm that emerged from the discussion on a mailing list on which we all seemeed to find ourselves. Hence, RealityBuzz.org.
Another new site that emerged from this group is Be Bothered, which uses a very interesting approach: use trackbacks to discuss daily topics on one's own blog and have your thoughts appear there as well.
Both sites are just a couple of days old, but already are drawing a lot of traffic.
Personally, while I have trouble disconnecting progressive politics from feminist causes, I will probably tend to post the more strictly-political posts on RealityBuzz, so I can focus more on our feminist talk here on mediagirl.org.

You are a goddess.
This is all really exciting stuff. Have you been visiting the IndieRoll? I've been surfing - so many sites I had no idea existed, and they're mostly good, solid work.
But I'll tell you, I've been going around so much, trying to comment everywhere, inviting people in the comments to trackback to give themselves a link... it feels like I'm neglecting my own blog. There's a piece that I want to write, but it's long and complicated, and I haven't done it because I want to get the momentum on Be Bothered going... aaarghhh!
Ah, well. Rant over. Back to the trenches, and long live the revolution!

Hello Bloggers! I am a second year graduate student at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication in Los Angeles. For my masters thesis project, I am researching the uses and gratifications of bloggers - basically, why people go to blogs: for content gratifications (information/education/learning), social gratifications (interactions/chatting), or process gratifications (search engines/surfing).
I would really appreciate your assistance with this project. Please take a minute to check out the survey link - http://surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=73418829968. It takes less than 2 minutes! And feel free to pass it along to all the bloggers you know and/or post the link on your blogs.
Thanks so much!
