Both ends burning
I was up way too late for my own good. A few days ago I bought this great laptop desktop thingie ["dt"], but it's had the nasty side effect of maying it too easy to work in bed. My habit of late has been to lounge on my king bed, tooling on the Mac. With this dt, it's just so much more comfortable than using the empty 3-ring binder I had been using. So add it up -- coding, comfort, bed -- and it seems pretty obvious why I've been getting way to little sleep.
Last night I was up until 4am, and then tried to get up at 8 with the ambitious notion of dragging the trash barrel down the long drive for collection. It wasn't going to happen, no way, no how (the barrel, thus the collection).

Wednesday full of grace
What a day, with so much to keep up on. Fortunately I had a bit of a respite from the media feed and desktop grind by spending most of the day with my wonderful niece. We watched a little tv on those kiddie channels, and both of us were bored by that. We threw the ball for Jack (Jack loves chasing the ball). We read a really scary story (she loves scary stories). Life can be quite pleasant without politics and war and big business and all three together.
Beware the whirlwind
I'm in the midst of facilitating the installation of a CMS on another site. Meanwhile I'm way way way overdue to get back on the massive DVD project in which I'm enmeshed.
The past couple of weeks, coming off a month of fighting a nasty bug, have left me exhausted. A good night's sleep is what I need, I suppose. Maybe a dozen of them. I can't believe the turkey is in a week!
Now my course is plain as day
Running bold across to play
Both ends burning with a strange desire
That feeds the fire in my soul tonight
I will dance the night away
Living only for today
Both ends burning while you're counting sheep
Hell-- who can sleep in this heat this night?
Tell me will I ever learn?
It's too late, the rush is on
Both ends burning and I can't control
The fires raging in my soul tonight
Oh will it never end?
Put your foot around the bend
Drive me crazy to an early grave
Tell me what is there to save tonight
Both ends burning
